Blender Pen Coloring
by Jenna Roby
- Rubber stamped image done using waterproof archival or
permanent ink
- Dye ink pads with semi-flexible lids
- Light neutral colored card stock
- Blender pen
- Scrap paper
-
Choose a color of dye ink (your lightest color is the best place to
start) & gently press the closed dye ink pad lid into the surface of the of the
ink pad creating a “puddle” of concentrated ink on the inside of the lid.
-
Open the ink pad and use the tip of the blender pen to pick up some ink
and use to color in particular areas of the dry stamped image. (If the outline
ink is still wet, it will smear.) Pick up more ink as needed to create the
density of color desired.
-
When you finish with one color, gently scribble the inked pen tip across
the scrap paper until no color comes off. The tip will become stained with use,
but as long as no color comes off on the scrap paper the pen is ready to use
with another color.
This technique is great for creating water colored effects
and for when you don’t have a marker to match a particular dye ink pad.
