Instructions:
On sheet
of white c/s, make a scraped paint background using acrylic paints and an old
credit card. When dry, scrape over entire piece with white iridescent fabric
paint. Spritz bleach onto one small piece of cobalt c/s and another piece of
turquoise c/s. Also spritz the front only of a 6 ½” x 5” turquoise card. Use a
heat gun to accelerate the bleaching.
Stamp
various images with black dye ink onto the three backgrounds in a random manner,
reserving one area of the scraped paint background for the fish. Reserve a small
piece of the bleached turquoise for the FISH label and small mosaic pieces.
Stamp the fish onto reserved background with black pigment ink and emboss with
black powder. Cut out, leaving a narrow border around the fish. Color in areas
with glitter gel pens. Cut remaining backgrounds into various geometric shapes,
being careful to leave some even sided pieces to place around the edges. Peel
release paper off a 4 ½” x 6” piece of sticker paper. Leaving an ⅛” border
around the edges, place the even sided cut pieces, leaving narrow spaces between
all pieces. Fill in remainder of sheet. Place release paper back on top and roll
over the mosaic to secure the pieces. Remove release paper and coat the spaces
left on the sticker paper with black embossing powder. Place the release paper
back on top and roll over again. Remove release paper and heat with heat gun.
On a 1 ⅛”
x 2 ¼” piece of the reserved, bleached turquoise, stamp the word FISH with black
ink. Go over the letters with the black Glaze pen. Cut a medium bookplate out of
black glossy c/s and attach over the FISH. Attach pastel green eyelets in the
holes and thread short lengths of eyelash yarn through the eyelets. On a
3 ⅛”
square piece of black glossy c/s, make a mosaic border using small pieces cut
from reserved piece of bleached turquoise c/s. (HINT: this is much easier if you
apply a line of glue tape to the back of the strips before you cut them into
little squares.) Place black square on a diagonal in center of mosaic
background. Attach these to the front of prepared turquoise card. Attach fish on
top using foam dots or tape and FISH bookplate underneath using regular
adhesive.
