“Boat Adventure”    Artist - Jenna Roby

6 x 6 “Boat Adventure” 2 scrap book pages

 Supplies:

Photos of a boat trip

Scrabble alphabet stamps (887-102L)

Nautical Collage stamp (068-005F)

Ocean Waves stamp (897-107F)

Life Preserver stamp (068-002I)

Dark blue dye ink

Light blue dye ink

White wax pencil

Lg. & Sm. corner rounder

½” square punch

Scissors (I find the small bladed type work well for detail cutting)

Facial tissue or paper towel

Sponge

Light blue card stock, two 6 x 6” pieces

Glossy photo paper, one sheet (While the techniques used work best on glossy card stock, glossy card stock is highly alkaline. This is as bad for your photos as highly acidic card stock and should not be used for scrap booking. Glossy photo paper also takes longer to dry than glossy card stock, so check the ink to be sure it’s thoroughly dry before handling.)

1)      Stamp Ocean Wave stamp in horizontal rows using light blue ink onto one 6 x 6” foundation.

2)      Use the sponge with light blue ink to “texturize” the other 6 x 6” foundation by dabbing the sponge into the ink and then dabbing the ink all around the edges. I only sponge enough to cover where the layered pieces won’t be.

3)      Cut a 5 x 4 piece of glossy photo paper.

4)      Stamp connecting waves along the top & bottom using dark blue ink. Stamp wave 1” in using dark blue ink along both sides alternating which end you use so the pattern look more varied. Let dry completely.

5)      Use wax pencil to highlight the crests of the waves. Press hard to get good coverage with the wax.

6)      Sponge light blue all around the edges of stamped glossy photo paper. Let dry.

7)      Take the tissue or paper towel and buff the wax off the glossy photo paper. The wave crests should be white. If they are not, you didn’t apply enough wax to block the light blue ink.

8)      Use lg corner rounder on the 3 corners of both the mat and the photo that will show.

9)      Mat photo leaving a 1/2” border on all sides.

10)  Cut another piece of glossy photo paper to a size 3/8” larger than collage stamp.

11)  Stamp collage image using dark blue ink. Let dry.

12)  Use sm corner rounder on all corners.

13)  Mount onto corner of matted photo.

14)  Cut 2 squares 3/8” larger than the preserver.

15)  Stamp preserver once on each square using dark blue ink. Let dry.

16)  Cut out centers of preservers using scissors, then trim off excess from outer edge leaving 1/16” border.

17)  Position photo behind preserver frame and crop as needed. Adhere.

18)  Repeat for second preserver frame.

19)  Stamp title letters on what’s left of the glossy photo paper. Let dry.

20)  Use ½” square punch to cut out letters. Use scissors to trim corners to conform to image outline.

21)  Position all elements on foundation to assure spacing. Adhere.
