Instructions for Stamped Clay-Topped Box:
1.
Cover box and lid with patterned paper or paint with desired color. Add
Distress Ink to the edges for aging. Set aside.
2.
Condition and roll out clay to about ¼” thick.
3.
Ink stamp with Versamark and stamp image onto clay, pressing to make a
good impression into the clay. Repeat until the clay is covered with the
stamping.
4.
Trim clay into desired shape, keeping in mind that there needs to be a
small gap between the tiles. You can use a clay blade or shaped cutter. My box
was 5” square, so I cut 1” squares of clay to use as the tiles.
5.
Set the tiles aside to dry.
6.
When the tiles are dry, sand the edges with a sanding block to remove any
sharp crumbs.
7.
Paint the tops of the tiles with a small amount of paint making sure to
not paint into every crevice. Paint the sides of the tiles too.
8.
Ink the top of the tiles with Distress Ink by direct application or use
of a Stylus Tool or makeup sponge.
9.
Attach tiles to lid using hot glue.
10.
Add trim and “feet” using hot glue. Done!
